Serbia Inflation Rate at 4-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Serbia rose to 1.5 percent in November 2019, its highest level since July, from 1 percent in the previous month. Prices rose faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2 percent vs 0.7 percent in October); housing & utilities (1.4 percent vs 1.3 percent); recreation & culture (1.8 percent vs 1.6 percent); communication (1.4 percent vs 1.1 percent); furnishings (1.6 percent vs 1.2 percent); restaurants & hotels (2.3 percent vs 1.9 percent); education (1.1 percent vs 0.4 percent). At the same time, inflation remained steady for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (at 5.1 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (at 1.2 percent). Meanwhile, cost fell for transport (-1.2 percent vs -1.3 percent) and clothing & footwear (-1.4 percent vs -1.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.2 percent, after increasing 0.1 percent in the prior month.

Serbia Inflation Rate at 3-Year Low of 1% in October
The annual inflation rate in Serbia decreased to 1% in October 2019 from 1.1% in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation since September 2016, as cost slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (0.7% from 1% in September); housing & utilities (1.3% from 1.6%); recreation & culture (1.6% from 1.8%); communication (1.1% from 1.2%) and restaurant & hotels (1.9% from 2%). On the other hand, prices rose faster for furniture & household equipment (1.2% from 1.1%); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.1% from 5%); health (2.1% from 2%) and education (0.4% from 0.3%). Meantime, inflation was steady for miscellaneous goods & services (at 1.2%) and cost continued to drop for transport (-1.3% from -0.8%) and clothing & footwear (-1.5% from -1.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1%, after a 0.5% fall in September.

It was the lowest inflation since April of 2018, as cost slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1 percent from 1.3 percent in August); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5 percent from 5.1 percent); recreation & culture (1.8 percent from 2 percent); health (2 percent from 2.1 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (1.2 percent from 1.4 percent) and education (0.3 percent from 0.4 percent). Also, prices fell further for transport (-0.8 percent from -0.1 percent) and clothing & footwear (-1.3 percent from -0.9 percent). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for housing & utilities (1.5 percent from 1.3 percent); communication (1.2 percent from 0.5 percent); furniture & household equipment (1.1 percent from 1 percent) and restaurant & hotels (2 percent from 1.3 percent). Serbia August Inflation Rate at Over 1-Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Serbia decreased to 1.3 percent in August of 2019 from 1.6 percent in the previous month and below market consensus of 1.7 percent. It was the lowest inflation rate since April last year, as prices advanced at a softer pace for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.3 percent vs 2.1 percent in July); housing & utilities (1.3 percent vs 1.8 percent); recreation & culture (2.0 percent vs 2.5 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (1.4 percent vs 1.6 percent). In addition, transport cost dropped (-0.1 percent vs 0.5 percent). On the other hand, prices rose faster for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.1 percent vs 3.7 percent) and communication (0.5 percent vs 0.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices showed no growth, after decreasing 0.2 percent in July.

Serbia Inflation Rate Rises to 1.6% in July
The inflation rate in Serbia picked up to 1.6 percent year-on-year in July 2019 from a 14-month low of 1.5 percent in the previous month, as prices rose faster for: food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.1 percent vs 1.5 percent); recreation & culture (2.5 percent vs 1.7 percent); communication (0.4 percent vs 0.1 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (1.6 percent vs 1.4 percent). Meanwhile, inflation was unchanged for housing & utilities (at 1.8 percent), while it slowed for transport (0.5 percent vs 1.4 percent) and alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (3.7 percent vs 5.2 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.2 percent, the third consecutive month of decline.

The annual inflation rate in Serbia decreased to 1.5 percent in June 2019 from 2.2 percent in the previous month and below market consensus of 2.4 percent. It was the lowest inflation rate since April last year, as prices eased for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 percent from 2.7 percent in May); transport (1.4 percent from 3.3 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (1.4 percent from 1.8 percent); and furniture & household equipment (0.8 percent from 0.9 percent). On the other hand, cost advanced further for housing & utilities (1.8 percent from 1.6 percent); recreation & culture (1.7 percent from 1.5 percent); health (2.3 percent from 2 percent); and restaurant& hotels (1.6 percent from 1.4 percent). Also, inflation was steady for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (at 5.2 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.3 percent, the same pace as in the prior month.
