Tourist Arrivals in Bulgaria Increase 3.7% YoY in October
The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria increased 3.7 percent year-on-year to 766.4 thousand in October of 2019, after a 2.9 percent fall in the previous month. There was a rise in trips with all observed purposes: holiday & recreation (6.4 percent), professional (2.2 percent) and other purpose including guest and passing transit (2.2 percent). The number of visitors from the EU went down 2.6 percent and accounted to 52.2 percent of the total. Main declines were seen from Poland (-32.7 percent), Italy (19.7 percent), the Netherlands (-11.7 percent), Belgium (-10.9 percent) and Germany (-7.1 percent). In contrast, tourist arrivals were higher from the UK (10.2 percent), Austria (8.2 percent), Greece (3.2 percent) and Romania (1.5 percent).

Bulgaria Tourist Arrivals Drop 2.9% in September
The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria decreased 2.9 percent year-on-year to 1,286.4 thousand in September 2019, after a 3.8 percent rise in the previous month. Declines were seen in the trips with all observed purposes, namely holiday & recreation (-3.1 percent); other purpose including guest and passing transit (-3 percent) and professional purposes (-1.6 percent). The number of visitors from the EU went down 5.5 percent and accounted to 61.2 percent of the total. Tourist arrivals were lower from Germany (-20.8 percent), France (-11.7 percent), Greece (-5.1 percent), Austria (-4.8 percent), Romania (-3.4 percent) and Czech Republic (-2 percent). In contrast, main increases were registered from the UK (15 percent), Denmark (8.9 percent), Hungary (8.1 percent) and the Netherlands (8 percent).

The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria increased 3.8 percent year-on-year to 2,325.2 thousand in August of 2019, after a 3.2 percent fall in the previous month. There was a rise in trips of holiday & recreation (7.6 percent) and professional purposes (6.1 percent) while those with other purpose including guest and passing transit decreased (-2.1 percent). The number of visitors from the EU went up 3.6 percent and accounted to 62.1 percent of the total. Tourist arrivals were higher from Romania (30.9 percent), the UK (17.8 percent), Spain (15.8 percent), Austria (5.4 percent) and Hungary (4.3 percent). In contrast, main declines were seen from Germany (-12.7 percent) and Belgium (-5.8 percent)

Bulgaria Tourist Arrivals Fall 3.2% YoY in July
The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria decreased 3.2 percent year-on-year to 2,083.1 thousand in July of 2019, following a 0.9 percent drop in the prior month. There was a decrease in trips of holiday & recreation (-6.2 percent) while and increase was seen in trips of professional (1.7 percent) and other purpose including guest and passing transit (0.4 percent). The number of visitors from the EU fell 5.2 percent and accounted to 60.1 percent of the total. Tourist arrivals decreased from Czech Republic (-13.9 percent), Germany (-12.9 percent), Poland (-11.6 percent) and Greece (-7.6 percent). In contrast, main increases were seen from United Kingdom (21.0 percent), Ireland (19.1 percent), Hungary (6.5 percent), Romania (6.1 percent), Spain (3.5 percent) and France (1.6 percent).

The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria decreased 0.9 percent year-on-year to 1,537 thousand in June of 2019, after a 0.9 percent rise in the prior month. There was a decrease in trips of professional (-4.5 percent) and holiday & recreation purpose (-2.5 percent) while and increase was seen in trips of other purpose including guest and passing transit (3.0 percent). The number of visitors from the EU fell 5.4 percent and accounted to 55.9 percent of the total. Tourist arrivals decreased from Poland (-13.6 percent), Germany (-8.9 percent), France (-7.0 percent), Romania (-3.7 percent) and from Greece (-3.2 percent). In contrast, main increases were seen from Ireland (11.1 percent), Spain (5.1 percent), the UK (4.3 percent) and from Hungary (0.7 percent).

The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria went up 0.9 percent year-on-year to 946.7 thousand in May of 2019, following a 4.2 percent rise in the prior month. There was a decrease in trips of holiday & recreation purpose (-0.9 percent) while an increase was seen in trips of professional purpose (1.7 percent) and other purpose including guest and passing transit (2.1 percent). The number of visitors from the EU fell 0.7 percent and accounted to 62.7 percent of the total. Tourist arrivals decreased from Italy (-17.2 percent), Germany (-0.5 percent) and France (-0.5 percent). In contrast, main increases were seen in arrivals from the UK (14.1 percent), Austria (6.7 percent) and Greece (2.9 percent).
