Bahrain Inflation Rate at 10-Month High of 1.9%
The annual inflation rate in Bahrain increased to 1.9 percent in October of 2019 from 1.2 percent in the previous month. This was the highest inflation rate since December last year, as cost rose faster for: transport (3.8 percent vs 2.5 percent in September); communication (3.8 percent vs 3.7 percent), and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.8 percent vs 6.6 percent). In addition, prices fell less for: clothing & footwear (-4.2 percent vs -6.1 percent); furniture & household equipment (-0.8 percent vs -4.0 percent), while restaurants & hotels prices were flat (vs -0.9 percent). Meantime, cost went up softer for: food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.3 percent vs 4.8 percent); housing & utilities (1.2 percent vs 1.9 percent). On the other hand, miscellaneous goods & services inflation was steady (vs 5.8 percent. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6 percent, after declining 0.8 percent in the prior month.

Bahrain Inflation Rate Eases to 1.2% in September
The annual inflation rate in Bahrain decreased to 1.2 percent in September of 2019 from 1.3 percent in the previous month. Cost rose softer for transport (2.5 percent vs 2.8 percent in August); food & non-alcoholic beverages (4.8 percent vs 5.4 percent); housing & utilities (1.9 percent vs 2.6 percent), and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (6.6 percent vs 7.0 percent). Meantime, cost went up faster for: miscellaneous goods & services (5.8 percent vs 3.9 percent); communication (3.7 percent vs 3.6 percent). In addition, cost fell more than a month earlier for: clothing & footwear (-6.1 percent vs -2.2 percent); furniture & household equipment (-4.0 percent vs -2.5 percent), and restaurants & hotels prices continued to drop (-0.9 percent vs -0.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.8 percent, after increasing 1.2 percent in the prior month.

It was the highest inflation rate since January, as cost rose faster for transport (2.8 percent vs 1.3 percent in July); food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.4 percent vs 2.4 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3.9 percent vs 1.7 percent), and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (7.0 percent vs 5.8 percent). In addition, cost fell less for: clothing & footwear (-2.2 percent vs -9.6 percent); furniture & household equipment (-2.5 percent vs -5.1 percent). Meanwhile, cost increased softer for: housing & utilities (2.6 percent vs 3.0 percent); communication (3.6 percent vs 4.0 percent). On the other hand, restaurants & hotels prices continued to drop (-0.3 percent vs -0.1 percent). Bahrain Consumer Prices Fall for 1st Time Since 2012
Consumer prices in Bahrain declined 0.4 percent year-on-year in July of 2019, following a 0.2 percent rise in the previous month. It was the first month of deflation since January 2012, as cost slowed for housing & utilities (3.0 percent vs 4.1 percent in June); transport (1.3 percent vs 2.2 percent); communication (4.0 percent vs 4.2 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (5.8 percent vs 7.3 percent). In addition, prices dropped for clothing & footwear (-9.6 percent vs -2.8 percent); furniture & household equipment (-5.1 percent vs 3.2 percent) and restaurants & hotels (-0.1 percent vs 1.3 percent). On the other hand, food & non-alcoholic beverages cost rebounded (2.4 percent vs -0.5 percent) while miscellaneous goods & services prices advanced faster (1.7 percent vs 1.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.3 percent, after increasing 0.2 percent in the prior month.

Bahrain Inflation Rate Slows to 1% in April
Bahrain's annual inflation rate edged down to 1.0 percent in April of 2019 from 1.2 percent in the previous month. Cost went up at a softer pace for transport (2.5 percent vs 2.7 percent in March) while prices fell for clothing & footwear (-4.1 percent vs -2.5 percent); recreation & culture (-10.1 percent, the same as in March) and furniture & household equipment (-1.6 percent vs 2.0 percent). Meanwhile, inflation was steady for food & non-alcoholic beverages (at 2.2 percent); housing & utilities (at 4.0 percent) and restaurants (at 1.3 percent) while prices rose faster for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (9.4 percent vs 8.6 percent) and for miscellaneous goods & services (2.0 percent vs 0.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.8 percent, after increasing 0.8 percent in March.

Bahrain's annual inflation rate increased to 1.2 percent in March of 2019 from 0.9 percent in February, boosted by food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.2 percent vs 0.6 percent in February); transport (2.7 percent vs 1.2 percent); furniture & household equipment (2 percent vs 1.3 percent); restaurants (1.3 percent vs 0.8 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (8.6 percent vs 4.3 percent); and miscellaneous goods and services (0.3 percent vs -0.2 percent). Meantime, housing and utilities inflation was steady (at 4.0 pct), while prices fell for: clothing and footwear (-2.5 percent vs 1 percent); health (-0.7 percent vs 6.0 percent); and recreation and culture (-10.1 percent vs -10.4 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.8 percent, compared to a 0.2 percent rise in February.
